This is an essay about Kousaka on Riya which may delve into a bunch of other topics, but that was the host idea.

Riya confessed to Kousaka that he loved his playing. Then, Kousaka saw Riya perform and was likewise moved by it. . . So, he insulted Riya after his performance and the two have kept an eye on each other since. It's a grade-school crush simply. Kousaka never seems too interested in anything, not even caring about playing, but he takes an interest in Riya then continues to tease him without end. In keeping an eye on Riya, he starts to see what Riya keeps hidden and even begins to project his problems onto Riya.

The relationship is not a healthy one though. Kousaka proves to be infantile with his interactions, teasing then becoming very jealous and possessive of Riya. He doesn't know how to admit that he likes him and come to those feelings. He prefers to dig into Riya's weaknesses and make Riya rely on him so that he can have Riya to himself. And this works nicely with the fact that Riya won't accept others looking after him; Kousaka forces himself on Riya and Riya can't push him away. There's a lot of misguided help coming from Kousaka, encouraging Riya to give up the violin and other attempts to keep Riya all to himself. So, Kousaka does genuinely care about Riya. . . But not for the right reasons.

It's an awkward balance, and it only gets more complicated as Black appears and Kousaka becomes more and more jealous. Kousaka honestly doesn't see what's wrong with his behavior and thinks hitting or breaking Riya's fingers so he can't play is perfectly acceptable. He's doing it for his reasons which are the best thing for Riya, of course. He doesn't have or need anything than what Kousaka offers, after all.

In Micro, this is all par the course. Kousaka has complete control over White and what he does which is why his interaction is limited to whatever Kousaka will let him have. It's not hard since White couldn't let his guards down with anyone in Micro, so there weren't too many ties to cut. Frankly, it pleased Kousaka that Riya hadn't really connected with anyone in his time there. It only proves that Kousaka is the right one for Riya more. As for Black, Kousaka can't control him. Rather, he could try but he knows that he's likely to get his shit fucked up for it. It doesn't mean he won't make Black a punching bag occasionally and try to make Black do what he says.

And I feel I should make an essay on Riya now, whew.
